Navigating change

Navigating change

We’ve partnered with Lamplight, our database provider, to publish a Navigating Change E-Book for charities to learn from our change process over the past year. We’ve had a year of significant change with the new 7 year advocacy contract we began in April 2024, and adapting our services to improve advocacy in Sheffield. We’ve reflected on this journey with our partner, Lamplight who have supported us through various digital changes, and produced an e-book to support other small charities to learn from if they’re planning to implement their own significant changes.

What’s inside?

This action research project was carried out by Nick Scott and commissioned by Lamplight. Nick reviewed the process as it developed over the year, and carried out in-depth interviews with key participants.

This short e-book tells the story of the project and picks out key lessons for smaller charities undertaking change, as well as for funders and commissioners.

Their story demonstrates how embracing change can build a charity’s capability and help it deliver on its mission. Throughout the first year of their change process, they’ve shown that successful change doesn’t happen by accident – it needs deliberate choice, effective structures, and a clear focus on purpose.

Most of all, change is about people. People over perfection. Service over systems.
